Ever since I was a little girl, I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. I was writing on a chalkboard when I was a year old. My brothers were my students. I loved teaching then and still LOVE IT NOW! Yesterday, an incident occurred that has me really doubting why I became a teacher. It boggles my brain why a child would go home and tell a lie on a teacher and then parents, off the rip, believe every single word. Where are the days when TEACHERS WERE RESPECTED!?!? I pride myself on starting each day, fresh and new. I wipe the slate clean from everything that occurred the day before. I work hard with my students, my babies, that struggle and strive to make my students, my babies better than they were yesterday. I'm firm but fair. I love watching their eyes light up when they have achieved greatness and I am ready to hand out kleenex when they can't seem to get the problem right. I am that teacher that inspires, enriches and motivates my students, my babies to want to do better. For a child to have the right to be able to disrupt, disrespect, be unruly and still have the power in the classroom because his mommy has threatened to make a fuss is disgusting. As much as I love teaching, Im starting to really second guess if I could do this for the next 20 years.
"I am a
teacher. A teacher is someone who leads. There is no magic here. I do not
walk on water. I do not part the sea. I just love the children."
It has been 3 months since I've blogged and I needed a little break. As much as I love to write, I took the summer off to relax and clear my head of the many things I had floating around in it! So with that being said, I hope I didn't lose any of my followers and the few that have stuck around, A HUGE THANK YOU!! IM GLAD TO BE BACK!!
