Finding a Balance!

Lately, I have been asking myself where does the time go? It seems as though, I never have enough time to fulfill any of my dreams and aspirations. My one major aspiration, was to have a successful mentor program by the time I turned 40. Well, the battle between being a cheerleading coach/mommy for my daughter's school's team and being in charge of a mentor program was a challenge for me. The fact that cheerleading took up most of my time, won out. I had to make the best decision for my daughter and the fact that she needed me, placed a period on anything else! With that being said, it has bothered me that I could not find the balance between the two. I, being the founder of Ebony Pearls had to tell 12 young ladies, that I could no longer have the program because of other obligations. The decision bothered me for awhile but I knew in my heart, I was making the right one. Well lately, my heart has been full. I have had several girls and parents contact me about Ebony Pearls and if we will ever be in existence again. With much hesistance, I say, some day soon.... While watching Joel Osteen, Sunday morning, his sermon was about fulfilling your dreams and to stop putting off what is on your heart for tomorrow and do it TODAY! He also preached about things weighing heavy on your heart and staying there until your commitment has been fulfilled. That to me, spoke volumes, because I have been in a constant battle. On Monday morning, one of my students gave me a typed letter from her dad. My first thought was, oh crap, what now! Relief set in quick! The letter was thanking me for being a wonderful teacher and enriching the life of his daughter. It also went on to say that he has started a non-profit organization to enstill good health, wellness and a better education for minorities and wanted me to be on the board! Immediately, my thought process went directly to my mentor program and asking myself, was this God's way of saying, I GOT YOU! YOU ARE NEEDED! I spoke with a friend and she also said, God has a way of speaking to you, when you least expect it. I took that whisper from God as a sign, that Ebony Pearls Mentor Program is needed and that I am making a difference. So now my goal has begun to find a way at balancing both mommyhood/mentorhood and finding a way at being successful at both!

Suggestions are needed! How have you balanced things in your life?

Embarking on a new milestone....

In exactly four months, I will be embarking on a new milestone in my life. As I take a look back at my life over the last 10 years, I have been on an amazing journey. I moved to Atlanta from Florida, had a beautiful daughter, bought a home, sold a home, got divorced, lost a job, got another job and met some AH-MAZING FRIENDS! I have shed a few tears, well a lot of tears but through it all,  I have bounced back better than ever. I tend not to dwell on the negative to long because that can bring a person down. I try my best to stay in positive place at all times. The older I get, the more I realize that I have absolutely no room for negativity. Whatever it is I am going through, I cry, cry some more and give it to GOD! I DO MY BEST TO LET IT GO! My constant prayer right now IS:  LESS OF ME AND MORE OF HIM! My relationship with GOD has been so overwhelming. When I think about how far I have come, I am truly BLESSED! I have created a vision board for my year and it is has been such a wonderful thing to have it remind me,  of what my focus is and where I am going. I am learning to be more patient with people and myself. Learning to count to 10 and not fly off the handle, so quickly! Learning that it is okay, to make a mistake, learn from it and get right back up. I have no regrets about anything that has happened in my life, I take each lesson and learn from it. So, as I plan for that milestone that is to come in July, I will enjoy each and every day of  the rest of my thirties and live out my 40's the BEST DING DANG  WAY I KNOW HOW!!! THAT IS  TO THE FULLEST!!! Now as I look ahead, I AM saying  it out loud, putting it in the universe, what I am hoping for in my future:
  • Maintain my relationship with God
  • A fabulous body!!! ( I am working on that, daily)
  • My relationship with my kids to be better than ever!
  • My mentor program to BLOW UP!!!
  • My business to BLOW UP!!!
  • A larger savings account.
  • A solid relationship with my family and friends.
  • AND......perhaps, maybe just maybe FIND a MALE PERSON who isn't perfect but perfect for ME! Someone who I can act silly with, someone who treats me well and loves being with me more than anyone else!
As I say goodbye to my 30's, I'm so looking forward to my 40's!!!!!!

Long Road.....

Lately, I have been feeling like I am on a long road to nowhere. I have had more bad days than good and one would never know because I continue to smile through it all. I put on my favorite lip sheen, my fly outfit and fake it until I am behind closed doors. I feel my best when I am at home in my bed, underneath the covers. It seems as though I have a black cloud hovering over me right now. I try my best to continue to repeat my mantra: "And this too shall pass" but it seems as though it hasn't been working lately. As I struggle through these feelings I am having, I will continue to have FAITH that this is my TEST from HIM! Even though I know that HE will never put more on me than I can bear, I PRAY TO HIM THAT THE LOAD I AM CARRYING that is breaking my back, be slowly lifted. I am STRONG, FEARLESS and have a HEART OF GOLD so through it all I WILL SMILE. A friend of mine text me yesterday and said these words to me: "YOU ARE FAVOR! CONTINUE TO BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS, BECAUSE YOU ARE BLESSED!" When I read this, I got a little emotional I must admit, I don't know why but I did. I open my heart always and at times, I feel like it is taken for granted, but the text message made me realize that I can not stop being who I am because of what others do to me. I know that these small issues that I am having are preparing me for a bigger future with greater rewards. I may not understand fully, but what I know for sure is that "TROUBLES DON'T LAST ALWAYS"! With that being said, I will continue to put my best foot forward and strut my way down this long road that is ahead of me. I WILL conquer all of my problems without worrying about the past and preparing myself for the FUTURE!
