I was MADE TO TEACH!

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. I was writing on a chalkboard when I was a year old. My brothers were my students. I loved teaching then and still LOVE IT NOW! Yesterday, an incident occurred that has me really doubting why I became a teacher. It boggles my brain why a child would go home and tell a lie on a teacher and then parents, off the rip, believe every single word. Where are the days when TEACHERS WERE RESPECTED!?!? I pride myself on starting each day, fresh and new. I wipe the slate clean from everything that occurred the day before. I work hard with my students, my babies,  that struggle and strive to make my students, my babies better than they were yesterday. I'm firm but fair. I love watching their eyes light up when they have achieved greatness and I am ready to hand out kleenex when they can't seem to get the problem right. I am that teacher that inspires, enriches and motivates my students, my babies to want to do better. For a child to have the right to be able to disrupt, disrespect, be unruly and still have the power in the classroom because his mommy has threatened to make a fuss is disgusting. As much as I love teaching, Im starting to really second guess if I could do this for the next 20 years.

Embarking on a new milestone....

In exactly four months, I will be embarking on a new milestone in my life. As I take a look back at my life over the last 10 years, I have been on an amazing journey. I moved to Atlanta from Florida, had a beautiful daughter, bought a home, sold a home, got divorced, lost a job, got another job and met some AH-MAZING FRIENDS! I have shed a few tears, well a lot of tears but through it all,  I have bounced back better than ever. I tend not to dwell on the negative to long because that can bring a person down. I try my best to stay in positive place at all times. The older I get, the more I realize that I have absolutely no room for negativity. Whatever it is I am going through, I cry, cry some more and give it to GOD! I DO MY BEST TO LET IT GO! My constant prayer right now IS:  LESS OF ME AND MORE OF HIM! My relationship with GOD has been so overwhelming. When I think about how far I have come, I am truly BLESSED! I have created a vision board for my year and it is has been such a wonderful thing to have it remind me,  of what my focus is and where I am going. I am learning to be more patient with people and myself. Learning to count to 10 and not fly off the handle, so quickly! Learning that it is okay, to make a mistake, learn from it and get right back up. I have no regrets about anything that has happened in my life, I take each lesson and learn from it. So, as I plan for that milestone that is to come in July, I will enjoy each and every day of  the rest of my thirties and live out my 40's the BEST DING DANG  WAY I KNOW HOW!!! THAT IS  TO THE FULLEST!!! Now as I look ahead, I AM saying  it out loud, putting it in the universe, what I am hoping for in my future:
  • Maintain my relationship with God
  • A fabulous body!!! ( I am working on that, daily)
  • My relationship with my kids to be better than ever!
  • My mentor program to BLOW UP!!!
  • My business to BLOW UP!!!
  • A larger savings account.
  • A solid relationship with my family and friends.
  • AND......perhaps, maybe just maybe FIND a MALE PERSON who isn't perfect but perfect for ME! Someone who I can act silly with, someone who treats me well and loves being with me more than anyone else!
As I say goodbye to my 30's, I'm so looking forward to my 40's!!!!!!

Opening My Heart 4 LOVE!

In 2008, I made the decision to separate from my husband. I knew that in order for me to be HAPPY, HAVE PEACE IN MY LIFE AND LIVE A BETTER ME, I had to separate myself from him. Our divorce became final October of 2009. The feeling was bittersweet. I thought I would jump for joy, run around my house naked, or have a WILD PARTY FOR BEING FREE, but it was not like that at all. The feeling I felt was one of loss, failure and defeat. I never dreamed I would become a statistic. I just knew that I would be married until the end but things did not work out as planned. Somewhere, our lives took two different roads. I went one way and he another. Now, I am at a place in my life that I am looking and opening my heart up for love. I miss the friendship, the pillow talk and just having that special someone to call when your day is good, bad or just plain out FAB!!! As I get used to the dating scene, I know that I am a bit rusty. Dating for me, is not something I enjoy. I hate having to give my time to non-deserving men when I could be at home reading a good book or just spending time with my family. But, I do know that in order to meet that special someone I will have to date a few frogs. So, now like many other single women, I have found myself reading many books to help me with the dating game.  Steve Harvey wrote a sequel to his first book: Straight Talk, No Chaser and I must admit, I read the book in about 2 hours. I really enjoyed it. It shocked me a little because his first book: Think Like a Man, Act Like A Lady, didn't grab me as much as the sequel. The book opened my eyes to many different things and some things I knew but decided to ignore because, HELL, WE ALL THINK AT TIMES THAT WE CAN CHANGE HIM... NOT!!! So, as I travel down this road looking for love, I open my heart and mind to the possibilities... As I stood outside yesterday in the snow, I opened my arms and welcomed whatever was to come. I know one day, I will have my KING, but  until then, I guess I better keep a good tube of lipgloss!

A MUST READ!!!!

My 2 Favorite People!

It has been over a week since I have blogged and I have missed it tremendously! When I started this journey I promised myself I would only try and miss a day or two at a time but LIFE has a way of interrupting things on a well planned agenda.  So, now that I am able to get back to what I LOVE, I have decided to dedicate this space to my two angels... I remember the day my son Christopher was born, I was 23 years old and was afraid ishless of what was happening.. I wasn't ready to be a mom but as soon as I looked into his eyes, my whole world changed. On May 25, 1995, I was now responsible for a beautiful baby boy. From that point on, I was on a mission to be the best MOM I could possibly be. He became my instant new roadie.. everywhere I went, he went.. he loved to shop, I loved to shop, he  loved to eat, I loved to eat, Christopher became the reason I excelled at everything I put my mind too. He gave me all the inspiration and strength I needed to complete my college education and become a successful teacher. Today, he is 15 years old and one of the most well rounded young man that I know. He is definitely a teenager but a well respected one. Everyday, I thank GOD that he chose me to have such a wonderful son.
Ten years later, along came Skai. I was at a different place in my life, married and having a baby. When the doctor said: Its a Girl, I cried like a baby... The tears were for the baby girl that I lost and the little girl that I was carrying, who I look soOOO forward to meeting. Skai Bella entered the world on June 19, Father's Day. What a present to give a dad! Devin was so overjoyed. The hospital room was 20 deep with family members and all eyes were waiting for our princess. The moment she came out I was in love.. while pregnant, I constantly ask other parents of more than one child, how do you find enough love for two? I LOVED Christopher with my entire being, that I worried that I wouldn't have enough love for Skai but the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I had enough LOVE to go around. Now, instead of me having one roadie.. I had two. I had always prayed for a daughter and now that I had one, my life was complete. My Princess looks exactly like her daddy but she is every bit of me... prissy, girlie, loves shoes, clothes, mani, pedis and anything that involves being a Princess. Christopher and I have totally enjoyed having this little DIVA around. She has brought so much laughter and joy to our family that LIFE JUST COULDN'T BE ANY SWEETER!
My heart: Christopher
My heart: Skai Bella

Til Death Do Us Part: Is that still a REALITY???

Recently, I have had numerous discussions on marriage and it seems as though, being married past 5 years is just not the reality anymore. As I sit and ponder my own marriage and divorce, I think to myself, did I give it my all, did I fight until all of the fight was gone, did I love until all the love was gone. Proudly, I can honestly say, I did give it my all... I did fight until there was no fight left and I did love until all the love was gone. So, now the question is do I still believe in marriage? Do I believe that marriages can last until death, do us part? Hmmmm, I would love to say, HELL YEAH, MARRIAGES CAN LAST... but I am just not to sure these days. Being a statistic myself and knowing many people who have walked down the same path I have has me SMDH! I'm nervous about not finding my soulmate. I'm nervous that I wil not find someone who will accept all of my faults and accept me for who I am. But what if I do find that special person, it scares to me think that if it doesn't work out again, I will become another divorcee twice and I sure as heck don't want that title again. So, what is a girl to do....??? Well, this I know for sure.. I will not be afraid to open my heart and trust. I will release all fears that I have of marriage and allow myself to LOVE AGAIN!
