Remember the Saying......?
Remember the saying..."Just wait until you have kids, you will understand exactly what I am talking about"! Whelp, I kind of figured out early, what my mommy was saying but now more than ever her words are ringing true. Being a mom of a 16 year old, hormone raging, sports loving, teenager has been my trial for the last 2 years. And lately, I have been praying to God more than ever, that my family members don't have to bail me out of jail! His mouth, attitude, and know it all self has me kick'n and scream'n!!!!! My baby went from a fun loving, mommy's boy to a pimple faced BRAT!!! I do take SOME responsibility for fawning over him for so long, but what else was I supposed to do? It was just he and I for so long, that I thought I was being the BEST MOM ever, now I have realized maybe I fawned over him just a little too much! Giving him the world, wasn't the best idea, not allowing him to fall because I never wanted him to scrape his knee and maybe NOT sparing the rod, when I should have used it, has me singing the blues right now. I do realize I am not the first parent to go through this, on the contrary, but I just never thought or dreamed that my baby would grow up to be one of those SNOT NOSED BRATS THAT I DESPISE.... So as I wipe away the tears and get down on my knees to pray, I will continue to ask GOD to help me get through these teenage years without WRAPPING MY PETITE LITTLE FINGERS AROUND HIS NECK!!!!! So PRAY for me readers, I have one more year before he is off to college and then MORE WORRIES WILL BEGIN!!!!

Happy Sweet 16!!!!
Today is bittersweet for me... My baby, my oldest baby has turned 16 today. I knew this day would come. Was excited about it, but I didn't think I would be so emotional. I'm not sure if it is because time is flying by entirely too fast or if I'm feeling like I am losing my baby. What I do know for sure is, I have an incredible son who is talented, smart, intelligent, has a heart of gold and is loved by all who he comes in contact with. Poppy has been my inspiration from the time he was born. He motivates me when I am down, he always has the right things to say when I am struggling to find myself and for that, I am truly GRATEFUL TO GOD FOR GIVING ME A WONDERFUL SON!!! I will celebrate him today and cherish this moment, because he will never be 16 again.
To my son:
An open letter to you:
At 23 years old, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know how to change a pamper, how to make a bottle, how to even nurture you. I wasn't sure if I could be the mom you needed. I even had doubts, to be honest with you, I was scared. I was scared of being a single mom, scared of what people would say about me being unwed, scared of shaming my parents, grandparents and friends. I was even afraid of going out in public because of being judged. It took me awhile to realize that because of YOU, I CAN BE ANYTHING I WANT TO BE... I finished college, graduated with honors, started teaching and living out my dreams. Its because of YOU that I am able to face whatever comes my way and handle it with pride. You gave me the strength and courage to move forward with everything I have put my mind to. I tell you every morning I LOVE YOU, YOU can be anything YOU WANT TO BE! My prayer for you is that, YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE AS HAPPY AS YOU WANT IT TO BE, FULFILLED, NO REGRETS AND DON'T ALLOW ANYONE TO TELL YOU, YOU CAN'T DO SOMETHING! I PRAY ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE! You have made my LIFE complete.
I love you, Poppy!
Happy Sweet 16 Birthday, Poppy!
Love,
Mommy!!!!

My 2 Favorite People!
It has been over a week since I have blogged and I have missed it tremendously! When I started this journey I promised myself I would only try and miss a day or two at a time but LIFE has a way of interrupting things on a well planned agenda. So, now that I am able to get back to what I LOVE, I have decided to dedicate this space to my two angels... I remember the day my son Christopher was born, I was 23 years old and was afraid ishless of what was happening.. I wasn't ready to be a mom but as soon as I looked into his eyes, my whole world changed. On May 25, 1995, I was now responsible for a beautiful baby boy. From that point on, I was on a mission to be the best MOM I could possibly be. He became my instant new roadie.. everywhere I went, he went.. he loved to shop, I loved to shop, he loved to eat, I loved to eat, Christopher became the reason I excelled at everything I put my mind too. He gave me all the inspiration and strength I needed to complete my college education and become a successful teacher. Today, he is 15 years old and one of the most well rounded young man that I know. He is definitely a teenager but a well respected one. Everyday, I thank GOD that he chose me to have such a wonderful son.
Ten years later, along came Skai. I was at a different place in my life, married and having a baby. When the doctor said: Its a Girl, I cried like a baby... The tears were for the baby girl that I lost and the little girl that I was carrying, who I look soOOO forward to meeting. Skai Bella entered the world on June 19, Father's Day. What a present to give a dad! Devin was so overjoyed. The hospital room was 20 deep with family members and all eyes were waiting for our princess. The moment she came out I was in love.. while pregnant, I constantly ask other parents of more than one child, how do you find enough love for two? I LOVED Christopher with my entire being, that I worried that I wouldn't have enough love for Skai but the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I had enough LOVE to go around. Now, instead of me having one roadie.. I had two. I had always prayed for a daughter and now that I had one, my life was complete. My Princess looks exactly like her daddy but she is every bit of me... prissy, girlie, loves shoes, clothes, mani, pedis and anything that involves being a Princess. Christopher and I have totally enjoyed having this little DIVA around. She has brought so much laughter and joy to our family that LIFE JUST COULDN'T BE ANY SWEETER!
